MISSION

The Mercedes Housing Authority provides decent, adequate, and affordable housing to low-income families, ensure the provision of community facilities, utilities, and access to social services and economic opportunities.

The Mercedes Housing Authority was established in 1952 under the 1937 US Housing Act. The Housing Authority of the City of Mercedes has provided quality housing options and supportive services to the citizens of Mercedes since 1952. We are committed to provide low income families and individuals with housing that is decent, safe, sanitary, and affordable. 

The Housing Authority of the City of Mercedes (MHA) is an independent public corporation, funded primarily by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). MHA is governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners appointed by the Mayor of the City of Mercedes.
